U-13 BOYS WIN THE WHITEWATER
Tuesday, May 30th, 2006Bethlehem Soccer Club’s U-13 Boys team won the Whitewater Cup Classic Soccer Tournament’s “Silver” Division in Wilkes-Barre over the Memorial Day Weekend.
In their opening match, BSC trounced the West Islip (NY) “Bobcats” 4-0. Ben Miller scored 3 goals and Andrew Muhl added 1.
BSC continued to roll in its second game against the Monroe (NY) “Blasters”, 4-0, scoring all 4 of their goals in the second half. Ben Miller scored 2 goals and Andrew Lomas and Mike Murnin added single tallies.
BSC entered the championship match against the North Potomac (MD) “Predators”, needing at least a tie to bring home the Cup. After surrendering an early goal, BSC center halfback Lloyd Achey blasted a goal through the Predators’ defense to knot the game at 1-1. The Predators took the lead with 6 minutes left, but striker Mike Kokosky scored on a breakaway with 1:30 remaining to clinch the championship for BSC.
BSC keeper Ethan Arner made several key saves in the championship game to keep BSC close.
