Information about age group changes for 2026-27 season

BSC parents:

We would like to share an important update regarding age group changes that will go into effect beginning with the 2026–2027 season, as directed by U.S. Soccer.

Starting next season, US Club Soccer and US Youth Soccer will transition from a January 1–December 31 birth-year format back to an August 1–July 31 school-year format. The goal of this change is to better align teams with school grade levels, reduce the number of “trapped players,” and keep classmates together whenever possible.

We understand that changes like this can bring questions, and we want to be as transparent as possible throughout the process. Below are links that explain the reasoning behind the change and what it means moving forward:

At the club level, we are already actively preparing for these changes. Our coaching staff and club leadership are reviewing potential team structures for next season and will approach this on a team-by-team basis. Our priority is to create environments that support player development, team stability, and long-term retention while providing the best overall experience for players and families.

Additional details will be shared next month following internal club meetings. This will include information on team placement for current players as well as the spring tryout process. Keep an eye out for tryout registration.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We truly appreciate your continued support and understanding as we navigate this transition together.

Thank you,

Bethlehem Soccer Club
